Telecoms cabinet base sealing: multi-cabinet project

The project:

• Supporting telecoms cabinet base sealing as part of a fast-paced broadband infrastructure project

The client:

• A major broadband provider, delivered via installation partner

• Cabinet Base Sealant – Virgin Media Specification  (Pictured below R)

The challenge:

An installer working on a live multi-cabinet project for a major broadband provider approached FILOform for support with cabinet base sealing on-site.

The works involved multiple telecoms cabinets within an active installation programme. So, the installer needed practical support from a supplier that:

• Understood the telecoms application
• Could help ensure the sealing element ran smoothly

The project also created an important opportunity for FILOform.

For the first time on a live telecoms job, we could see our all-new Cabinet Base Sealant Plus installed in-situ. All, that is, while continuing to support the installer with our established cabinet base sealing system already trusted in the sector.

This made the challenge twofold:

• Support the live installation effectively
• Use the visit to gain first-hand feedback on a new product innovation in real site conditions

The solution:

FILOform attended site to support the installer as cabinet base sealing works were carried out across multiple cabinets.

The installer completed the works using two FILOform systems:

• Virgin Media Specification Resin: FILOform’s well-established cabinet base sealing solution
• Cabinet Base Sealant Plus: FILOform’s newly launched, non-hazardous, re-enterable cabinet base sealant

This gave the team the chance to observe Cabinet Base Sealant Plus in situ for the first time, while also seeing it used alongside an established FILOform solution in the same live project environment.

During the visit, our role was to:

• Support the installer on site
• Observe the installation process
• Gather direct feedback from the field
• Demonstrate the latest addition to the FILOform cabinet base sealing portfolio in a real telecoms setting

The installation itself was completed by the installer, with FILOform there to provide practical support and product insight throughout.

The results:

The site visit delivered more than just a successful installation.

It gave FILOform valuable real-world validation of Cabinet Base Sealant Plus, while also reinforcing the strength of its existing telecoms cabinet base sealants portfolio and its close working relationships with installers.

Most importantly, the project showed that innovation in telecoms sealing does not always mean reinventing the job. Sometimes, it means improving what already works — while continuing to support installers with practical, field-proven solutions and specialist guidance.
