The challenge
A water utilities customer had identified a shortfall in cable duct sealing. In their identified instance, inadequate sealing had resulted in water entering a level probe chamber – with the potential to pollute potable drinking water.
This kind of ingress can pose risks to water quality and public health. Without the adequate sealing of assets, untreated water can make its way into injection chambers, reservoirs, and back wash tanks. This ingress can then compromise water quality, making it unsafe for consumption.
Meanwhile, contaminated water systems may require shutdowns for cleaning and remediation. Service delivery takes an impact, and regulatory non-compliance can cause headaches.
Correctly sealed cable ducts create robust barriers against these risks and more.
The solution
FILOform supplied our WIMES-compliant duct sealing kits. (Please note: these kits are intended for cable ducts, and must not be used where direct contact with potable water occurs.)
