Recessed Cover
High quality access covers for preserving the appearance of landscaped areas. Cubis’ Recessed Covers have developed a reputation in the construction industry for being of the highest quality, safe to use, and secure when installed. Specified with sole approval by a large number of utility providers, such as British Telecom, the Recessed Cover range has been installed in many high-profile landscaped projects globally.

Customer Badging
Bespoke customer details can be included in the badge for identification and awareness.
Security
Access covers can be fitted with a locking system to deter acts of vandalism. This is by means of a stainless steel spring-loaded captive bolt which is cast into the cover. A turnbuckle is fitted to the lock and swings into the frame to secure the cover in position. The bolt has a specially machined head which can only be opened with a matching key. Bespoke keys can be provided on request.
Frames
Frames are available in three different depths to accommodate different infill materials and application areas and a wide range of standard clear opening sizes are available. Cubis also has the ability to produce any bespoke size.

Meets EN124 Loading Requirements
Meets requirements of BS EN124: 1994 (B125) Meets relevant European and British standards and is kitemarked for compliance.
Meets Test Loads When Unfilled
Due to the testing specification stating that recessed covers must be tested unfilled, Recessed Covers can be filled with any material to suit the surrounding area.
Locking Options
Bolt-down locking mechanisms can be built into the cover, allowing for the covers to be locked securely. Locking keys can be adapted to suit the end user’s needs. This prevents access to the infrastructure network below.
Designed for Maximum Filled Weights
In line with industry specification, individual Recessed Covers will not weigh more than 78kg even when filled. This is to allow a single person to lift out the cover using the lift and slide design.
Manufactured from 6mm Steel
Access covers will not bow under the strain of filled materials, as with lighter-gauge covers.
Bespoke Sizes Available
Can be manufactured in a large size range, using cross-beams and cross-pieces to build multi-cover units.
Tapered Sides and Centralised Lifting Points
Cover leaves are tapered and possess lifting points in the centre, not the corner, of the cover. This allows one person to lift and slide the cover out.
Badged with Customer Information
Covers can be badged with information to allow for identification by operatives.
Shared Spaces
The approved solution for areas that feature slow moving traffic and where the demarcation between pedestrians and drivers is minimised.

Materials
Rolled Steel – The frames and cross pieces are manufactured from rolled steel section in compliance with BS1449 and galvanised in compliance with BS EN ISO 1461 .
Load rating
Recessed covers are suitable for installation in environments rated to B125 under EN124.
Suitable for footways, pedestrian areas and comparable areas, car parks or parking decks.
How it works
Recessed Covers are designed with tapered sides and centralised lifting points to allow the cover to slide out of the frame. These features allow covers to be safely removed by one person. Cover sizes are designed to ensure safe weights and multi-cover sets include removable crosspieces, allowing covers to be slid out safely.
