Role overview
As a Product Engineer at Filoform, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving our product portfolio. You work in a hands-on manufacturing environment where your technical decisions directly influence product quality, production efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
You will be involved in product improvements, engineering changes, validations, and technical problem-solving, while also supporting new developments within the Innovation & Product Development team. You work closely with colleagues from Operations, Quality, Supply Chain and Sales, acting as a technical sparring partner across the organization. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys combining analysis, practical execution, teamwork and who wants to see the tangible results of their work
What our new ‘Product Enginner’ will be doing:
- Executing engineering changes (ECOs), technical analyses, and validations.
- Reading, reviewing, and modifying technical drawings and specifications.
- Supporting new product development, prototyping, and technical testing.
- Improving and maintaining product data (ERP, BOMs, attributes) together with Data Management.
- Investigating quality issues and supporting root cause analysis.
- Contributing to certification and compliance activities.
- Supporting the creation of datasheets, labels, and technical documentation.
- Supporting tender activities by providing technical input.
- Research alternative products and resources for the betterment of the product portfolio.
- Work with product managers to develop product roadmaps and timelines.
- Collaborate with other engineers and designers to solve complex technical problems.
- Develop and implement testing procedures and product prototypes.
- Provide technical support to customers and other team members as needed.
- Stay updated with industry trends and implement changes in the systems accordingly.
- Managing moulds and tooling (maintenance coordination, documentation, small design updates).
- Performing field tests and reporting findings.
- Writing technical and validation reports.
- Analysing customer enquiries and translating them into technical requirements or concepts.
- Using 3D-printing for prototyping or concept evaluation.
- Conducting market research to inform product development decisions
- All other duties as deemed necessary by the Research & Development Manager
The experience our new ‘Product Engineer’ will have includes:
- A degree in industrial Product Design, Product Development, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar technical field.
- Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Experience as a Product Engineer or in a comparable technical role within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ECO processes and product change control.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Basic understanding of ERP systems, BOM structures and product data.
- Strong analytical skills; structured, precise, and reliable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple departments (Ops, QC, SC, Sales).
- Knowledge of plastics, metals, or resin is desirable.
- Experience with product validation, test setups, or laboratory work is desirable.
- Familiarity with Lean tools (RCA, 5 Whys) is desirable
- Experience with technical documentation or product data management.
- Understanding of low-voltage grids or fibre optics.
